courage is a verb

Here’s how to think of courage as a verb, to activate all the strength and joy you need to reach your fullest potential.

Courage is defined as a noun:
The “mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty.”

And sure, we can all see courage as a concept, and as a state of being where strength resides. Absolutely. However, courage is not only a noun. We are challenging the dictionary.  I encourage you to add a definition to your thinking and see courage as not just a noun, but a verb.

Courage is an action

Courage is not only a state of being or noun. It is also an action. Think about it. When you courage any aspect in your life as active movement toward what you’re trying to achieve, that is how you can reach your fullest potential.

Think about the biggest areas in your life.

Think about how you courage your work:
Those moments you push out of your comfort zone to learn something new or raise your hand in a meeting to share when you may be nervous.

Think about how you courage your relationships:
Those moments you pick up the phone, put your pride aside and call to apologize first, or get down on one knee and hope for a, “yes.”

Think about how you courage your family:
Those moments you advise your children with a problem at school, or how you caregive your ailing parent.

Think about how you’ve courage your goals and dreams:
Those moments you dreamed of an experience and then, one step after another, made it happen.

Think about how you courage your health:
Those moments you bravely ran the extra mile even when you felt tired or the bravery of going for a doctor’s visit to get possibly scary test results.
Is there any area you don’t need to actively courage in order to succeed? Nope.

Every action to better yourself and your world takes not just the concept of courage, but the ACTION of courage. The DOING of courage.

  1. Make Courage a Verb
  2. Live Your Why with Intention
